Prayers for Ordinary 31

By Mr Warwick Holden

Prayers of Intercession November 2009

Let us pray for all peoples throughout the world, in all places and in every kind of need....

We pray for our local leaders Charlie, Sam, Jane, & Wendy. We pray for all leaders of Religion in all parts of the world, may they be guided in their work by the example of saints throughout history. May their teaching and leadership be always be in the knowledge of God’s mercy and guidance. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We pray for all peoples around the world, but especially those in areas of violence, conflict, and disaster. We pray for those living in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq. For those who have lost For those still affected by natural disasters in South East Asia. For those who face starvation in Africa. In a moment of silence let each of us recall those whose stories have touched our hearts in the past weeks.... Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We pray for those who suffer, and those who work to relieve that suffering. For those sick in body, mind, or spirit. May they know your all-embracing love, and find peace in their suffering. We bring before you all those known to us as individuals, and groups in a moment of our own individual payers...... Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We pray for those who give us faith by the example of their lives, both in the past and now, in the present. May they, and all saints, guide us to know and love God, through Christ. We pray that all of us, by our own lives, help others we meet in our daily lives. By sowing the seeds of kindness, mercy, compassion, and most of all, love for our friends and enemies. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We pray for those we love and have died. We remember them in our hearts and hope one day to meet them again, in whatever way God will grant us. Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember … You turn our darkness into light: in your light shall we see light.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us say the Lord’s Prayer together.
