Christian worship, sermons, prayer and Bible study

Sunday 21 June 2009 - Ordinary 12 |

Anybody watching football, or English soccer, would be convinced that there really can
be miracles. Here are grown men, big rough tough footballers rolling around
on the floor in agony after a foul, then on comes a physio guy with a sponge
and after a few seconds they are completely well again. Even if they are
really bad and have to go off on a stretcher, as soon as they get to the
touchline the stretcher is discarded and up goes their hand to be allowed
back on again. It is a miracle, they are cured! Sadly history is full of
such circumstances, tales of healings and miraculous cures which owe more to
theatrical behaviour and manipulation than real healing.
The passage from Mark's gospel today tell of two healings which involved
Jesus. One in which he raised a little girl, another in which a woman is
healed merely by touching Jesus with faith. Could they be true?

Woodland
Burial at Keysoe Bedfordshire
The St Albans Woodland Burial Trust now offers woodland burial at our
woodland site
in Keysoe Bedfordshire. The location in beautiful countryside has been consecrated
to provide the greatest protection available in English law. The woodland is
open to people irrespective of faith or religious beliefs.
Burial in consecrated ground is seldom
offered these days, instead people purchase only lease on grave space for a period of perhaps 70
years. Consecration gives the greatest protection in English law that once
laid to rest you can do so in peace!
