Church Prayers and Intercessions

Church Prayers and Intercessions for Ordinary 28

Mr Warwick Holden

Prayers for Sunday 14th October 2018
Let us pray.
We pray for all people in all places around the world. We pray for all those who worship God around the world this day. We pray for all those who have no faith. We pray for those who believe that violence and anger represent their religion.

We pray for those who have little or nothing to eat, for those who are starving, who have no shelter, who have no friends. We pray especially this Sunday for the people of Indonesia, suffering from the earthquake. For the people of the south-eastern United States, who have had their homes and livelihoods destroyed by a hurricane. We pray for the people of Majorca, hit by tropical storms and floods.
We pray for those who have everything they need in material needs, but who have no purpose in life, who never see the need in their fellow men. Lord, open their eyes to charity towards others.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayer

We pray for those who lead us in faith. For Charlie and Sam. We pray for all who lead others in worship, in whatever country, and whatever faith they follow. May all leaders, religious or otherwise be guided by care for their fellow men.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayer

We pray for those who are sick, and who suffer, wherever they are in the world, whether they suffer from disease, injury, abuse, or neglect. Lord be with them in their suffering. We pray for any who suffer and who are known to us.  Let us each pray for those known to us who are in need.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayer

We pray for all who are without faith, hope or love. We pray for those who are sick, desperate or bereaved and for those who care for them and seek to bring them relief from their suffering. Give them your strength and courage to carry on and give them hope for the future.  We pray especially for all those known to us who are in special need of our prayers, and we remember them now in a moment of silence …
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray for those who we love and who have died. We remember them in our hearts and hope one day to meet them again, in whatever way God will grant us. Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench.  We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember …
You turn our darkness into light: in your light shall we see light.

Merciful Father accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us say the Lord’s Prayer together.
