Christian worship, sermons, prayer and Bible study from St. Mark's Church and Putnoe Heights Church, Bedford, England - The world is our parish |
Intercessions by Mr Warwick Holden
Ordinary 22 Year B
Prayers for 27 August 2006
Let us pray for all people, in all parts of this troubled world, and in all
kinds of need.
We pray for those who have suffered in acts of violence, rage, hatred and
revenge.
We pray for those who seek to gain advantage over others through acts of
destruction and terror.
Lord, we pray that they may hear your simple message, Love your neighbour.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for those who have received exam results these past weeks. Joy for
some and disappointment for others. We pray that you will guide them in
their choices for their future
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Lord, we pray for those who are on holiday at this time. May they return
refreshed and ready for the challenge of work . In all our acts, words,
thoughts, may we spread your message – Love your neighbour
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for our Church, local and national. We pray for all who minister
in our church. We pray for leaders throughout the world. Grant them wisdom &
guidance in difficult situations and decisions.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for those who suffer in body, mind or spirit. We pray that You
may relieve their suffering & show them your love. We name in our thoughts
any known to us who are in special need of our prayers, in a moment of
silence …
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for those who mourn for loved ones. At this time of summer
holidays and happiness loss can be especially hard to bear. We pray that You
will give them your strength. Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a
light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have
died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally
shines and brings hope. We remember
You turn our darkness into light: in your light shall we see light.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour
Jesus Christ. Amen.
Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us say the Lord’s Prayer
together.
