Church Prayers and Intercessions

Church Prayers and Intercessions

By Sam Ware

Ordinary 19 Year B 2015

Intercessions for Sunday August 9th 2015
After the words ‘Lord in your mercy’, we say ‘Hear our prayer’.
Let us pray.
Gracious God,
Rejoicing in your blessings, trusting in your loving care for all,
we bring to you our prayers for the world.

We pray for the created world:
for those who rebuild that which has been destroyed;
for those who strive to relieve hunger, poverty and disease;
for those who are working to bring relief and aid to refugees and those fleeing from war-torn countries;
for those who have power to bring about change for the better and to renew hope.
Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

We pray for our nation:
for those who have authority and influence in our national life: politicians, public servants, editors and journalists,
for those who work to keep the peace and foster mutual understanding and respect;
for those who teach, heal and care, and all who give freely of themselves in the service of others;
may they all be sensitive to what is right and good, and strengthened to resist temptation.
Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

We pray for people in need:
those for whom life is a bitter struggle;
those whose lives are clouded by death or loss, pain or disability, discouragement or fear, shame or rejection.
May they know the warmth, the comfort and the assurance of your love, that they may go forward with confidence.
Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

We pray for the church throughout the world, with all its diversity and the differing challenges it faces: may all who profess your name learn to work and witness together, surrounded by the great company of heaven.
We pray for leaders and congregations here and at St. Mark’s, as the Partnership evolves, and relationships change. May we all work to overcome misunderstandings and to renew trust in one another, that our purpose as churches may be uppermost in our hearts and minds and words.
Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Jesus Christ is the light of the World, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember today AAA
You turn our darkness into light and in your light shall we see light.
Merciful Father :
accept these prayer for the sake of your Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer…..
