Church Prayers and Intercessions

Prayers Sunday 16 March Lent 2

By Mrs Sue Allen

Let every Christian pray today and every day,
Come Holy Spirit, come
Only the Spirit’s power can fit us for this hour
Come Holy Spirit, come.

Come Holy Spirit and open our eyes to  your creation. We bring before you our concerns for the world you have created. We pray for the whole family of man and for  the world in which you have given us place. For the seasons and all the signs of spring around us. Help us to love and care for our environment.
Lord in your mercy

Come Holy Spirit and open our ears to your presence in the world. We pray for the nations of the world and their needs. For nations at war, for countries in times of instability, remembering Ukraine and Crimea. For countries coping with disaster, remembering the families of the victims of the lost aeroplane in Malaysia.
Lord in your mercy

Come Holy Spirit, open our lips to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom. We give thanks for your Church in all its diversity. We pray for a greater awareness of the meaning of Good News, for the gifts with which we are so richly blessed, for our responsibilities in mission and service. As we hope to raise money here today for Christian Aid, we pray for all who work to bring aid and comfort to their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Lord in your mercy

Come Holy Spirit, open our hearts to embrace all in times of difficulty. The sick and those who share their distress. For the frail elderly , our friends in Puttenhoe and Anjulita Court. For parents struggling to raise children in harsh circumstances of poverty, debt and inadequacy. For all coping with feelings of failure, loss, loneliness, fear or anger.
Lord in your mercy

At this time in our prayers we light a candle to remember those who have died. Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light no darkness can quench We remember today………………………………in your light shall we see light.
Come Holy Spirit and guide us into the coming week. May we  serve you in freedom and with gladness, delighting in your presence and rejoicing in your love.
The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day, our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory Forever and ever Amen
