Intercessions for the second Sunday before Lent 11 February 2007
By Mr Warwick Holden
Prayers for Sunday 11th February 2007
Let us pray for all people in all nations around the world.
We pray for those afflicted by conflict in the Middle East, Africa, and
elsewhere. For those who have lost loved ones to violence.
We pray for those who live in poverty, who suffer from starvation, who
do not enjoy the quality of life that we take for granted.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer
We pray for those who work to safeguard our world, who try to keep the
balance between industrial technology and destruction of our
environment.
We pray for our leaders who work to make difficult decisions about our
world and ourselves, grant them wisdom and care in their deliberations.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer
We pray for your Church throughout the world, from our own parish of
Brickhill & Putnoe to the wider world of Methodist & Anglican, and other
religions. We ask you to guide all leaders in the way of tolerance,
peace, and forgiveness.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer
We pray for all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. We ask that you
show them your peace, and help them in their pain and worry. May they
gain their own peace and understanding from Christ’s love of all people,
whatever their status or suffering.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer
Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can
quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to
symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope.
We remember …
You turn our darkness into light: in your light shall we see light.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us say the Lord’s Prayer
together.
