INTERCESSIONS

8 February 2004  by Mrs Alison Holden

Let us pray for all people, everywhere, according to their needs.

O God, creator and preserver of all mankind, we pray for people of every race, and in every kind of need: make your ways known on earth, your saving power among nations.

We pray for each other, acknowledging that God has called us all to be His disciples, to take the Good News out into the world.

We pray that all who profess the name of Christ may, by their lives and their love, to bring those whom they meet nearer to knowledge of God’s love. Lord, give us the courage to change the things we can change; the grace to accept the things we cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Strengthen your church, Lord, to be united in love and prayer. Help us to be one while respecting each others’ differences. We pray for our ministers, Charlie, Neil, Sam, and Joan. Give them strength, hope, courage, and the power of discipleship as they lead us.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer in mind or body and for those who care for them. We pray for the sick; for those who mourn; for those without faith, hope or love.

We pray for any known to us who are in special need of our prayers at this time.  We remember them now in a moment of silence ….

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench.  We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember

You turn our darkness into light: in your light shall we see light.  Merciful Father,

accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

On earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

Now and for ever.  Amen.

Intercessions at Putnoe Heights Church led by Mr Edward Peck

We are each and every one of us known by name to God our Father, a prayer then for us all as children of God.

Heavenly Father, in the rush and bustle of life, help us to remember that each of us is not just one in a crowd, a mere nobody.

Far from that each one is an individual, with our own personalities and responsibilities, our own life to lead.

Above all, help us to remember that each of us is personally known to you matters to your is of worth to you and that you love us each one.

Lord in your mercy-hear our prayer.

With problems arising every day it seems, concerning ethnic minorities, racial tensions, colour prejudices, and illegal immigrants, a prayer for racial harmony and tolerance.

God our Father, who made of one blood all nations to dwell upon the earth, deepen our understanding of peoples of other races, languages and customs.

Teach us to view them in the light of your own all embracing love; and give us a vision of the true brotherhood of mankind united under one Father, in the faith of one

Lord, our saviour Jesus Christ.

Lord in your mercy-hear our prayer.

With so much pressure in our lives giving cause for doubt, worry and concerns, a prayer now to strengthen our resolve to walk in Gods way.

Lord Jesus Christ, you declared yourself to be the Way, the Truth and the Life. Help us not to stray from you for you are the Way; nor to distrust you, for you are the

Truth; nor to rest on any other than you, for you are the Life.

Give us grace to follow you, the Way, to learn from you, the Truth and to live in you, the Life.

Lord in your mercy-hear our prayer.

We pray now for our lives in the local community.

Lord of all grace and truth who came to live among the people in your own town of Nazareth ,we

pray that YOU `will give us grace to live in our local community as salt to purify it, and as light to reveal your truth.

May we not be ashamed to acknowledge you as Saviour; and may we learn so to love and honour all people, that peace and goodwill may prevail among us; for your

names sake.

Lord in you mercy-hear our Prayer

We think now of the sick and those who care for them;  O God our Father, the source of life and health, we pray for those who are ill and in silence bring to mind those

known to us personally.  Give doctors and nurses skill to make them well again, and grant that during their illness they may learn more of your love and care; through. Jesus

Christ our Lord.

Lord in your mercy-hear our prayer.

O God our Father, we pray for those whose life is saddened by the death of a relative or friend, be with them in their loneliness and give them faith to look beyond their

present trouble to Jesus, the one who died and rose again, and who lives for evermore.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench.

We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ  which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember

You turn our darkness into light, in your light we shall see light

May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord in your mercy-hear our prayers.

Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us pray

With confidence as our Saviour  has taught us saying;
