Church Prayers and Intercessions

Church Prayers and Intercessions for Easter 3

Prayers 15th April 2018 – Bidding

Lord, as we bring to you our prayers of intercession, we ask you to open our ears to hear your voice, open our eyes to behold your glory, open our hearts to receive your grace, open our lips to show forth your praise.
Lord we bring to you our thanks and praise for the beauty of creation as we look around us we are amazed at the wonder and majesty of all that you have made.
Nature around us speaks of your greatness - the vast expanse of the sky, the mountains, trees, lakes and streams speak of your great design.
You have given us such beauty in the colours of the rainbow, the beauty of flowers and fields.
Help us to safeguard your world and may we show our love for you by showing reverence and care for all you have created for us and for future generations.
Lord in your mercy

Loving Lord in your Son, Jesus Christ, you call all people to yourself.
We pray for all those who already know of your love, those who are at the beginning of their journey with you and those that wait to hear your voice.
We pray that you will lead them all and keep them safe in your hands always.

Lord we bring you our prayers for our families, for those that are growing up that they may increase in wisdom and love, for those facing changes, that they may meet them with hope, for those that are weak that they may find strength, for those with heavy burdens that they, may carry them lightly.

Lord in your mercy
And now a prayer for Syria
In a week where the situation in Syria has never been far from our thoughts, we pray for all of the people in that troubled land, that God may strengthen the resolve of leaders to end the fighting and choose a future of peace.
For people leaving everything behind to flee to safety, for those who have lost loved ones, for lives interrupted, educations stalled and families separated.
We thank you for the work of partners, for the hospitality of neighbours, the generosity of strangers, for those who give of themselves to help others, for those who refuse to be silent in the face of injustice.
Lord, give the people of Syria hope, for peace and justice to prevail, for there to be new beginnings for all people living in that land, for freedom to replace fear and for there to be a better tomorrow.
Lord in your mercy

Lord we pray for all those recovering from surgery and for those in pain. You show yourself to those that are vulnerable and make your home with the poor and the weak of this world.

We pray that you will protect the healthy, calm the frightened, give courage to those in pain, strengthen those who care for the sick, Console the bereaved and comfort the dying and give to the dead eternal life.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope.

Merciful Father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
