INTERCESSIONS
Prayers of Intercession July 11 2004
Putnoe Heights Church Prayers
for Sunday. 11th July 2004.
Let us pray
We begin our intercessions with a morning prayer ...
0 God who loves us
We offer this day into your keeping; our plans into your providence, our
concerns into your love, our words into your silence, our activity into
your stillness. Look upon us in your steadfast love and grant us your
saving health, so that we may be instruments of your healing for others,
and all may grow into wholeness in your praise.
Lord in your Mercy; Hear our prayer.
We think now of all work which
concerns the wellbeing of children and young people living in a world
where family values are under threat; where in this country the
traditional family as we know it is deemed unnecessary in many quarters
and especially today let us remember NCH (The children's charity of the
Methodist Church). Let us pray for them using the NCH prayer ...
Loving God
We give you thanks for all children and young people, each one a unique
expression of your creative power.
We thank you that you love .and care for each one as an individual with
their own needs and fears as well as hopes and gifts to offer. Forgive us
when we have failed to show your love to children and young people, t when
we have not heard, or ignored, their voices, made their decisions for
them, lacked tolerance and respect, blamed or judged them unfairly. Help
us to look beyond what we see on the surface to see what you see to love
as you love us all through Jesus and in his name. Amen.
Lord in your Mercy; Hear our prayer.
As we think of family life, we think of our own Church family here at
Putnoe Heights, where in recent weeks we have celebrated golden and
diamond wedding anniversaries, and today we celebrate the 18th birthday of
Michael King whose family worship with us and we remember Michael in our
prayers as he attains his majority and officially reaches adulthood.
0 God our heavenly Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth
is named; we trust to your loving care the members of our families, both
near and far. Supply their needs; guide their footsteps; keep them in
safety of body and soul; and may your peace rest upon our homes and upon
our dear ones everywhere.
Lord in your Mercy; Hear our prayer.
Father, we pray for those who are sick in body, mind or spirit. Please
bring them your peace in their pain, your strength in their weakness and
your comfort in their sadness.
Lord in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
And a special prayer for those
who care for the sick ...
Lord, we pray for those who nurse a sick parent or partner or child. Where
life is threatened by the illness give the carer calmness and wisdom. For
those who nurse the chronically sick, knowing that a lifetime of care will
be called for, we pray for endurance, patience and gentleness in the face
of tiring duties and lost sleep. Care for the carers with your fatherly
concern and meet their needs so that they may have strength to persevere
with love and kindness.
Lord in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
Almighty God, whose Son our
Lord Jesus Christ won the victory over death; grant that all who mourn the
loss of those dear to them may enter into his victory, and find comfort,
hope and peace in him, who is the resurrection and the life.
Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can
quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to
symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope
We remember
You turn our darkness into light and in your light shall we see light. May
the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in
peace and rise in glory. Amen. Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour Jesus
Christ. Amen.
