INTERCESSIONSPrayers of Intercession 10 April 2005
We pray for the Catholic Church
as it mourns the loss of Pope John Paul II and celebrates his life and
achievements. Guide and inspire the conclave of cardinals as they choose
the new pope. May the spirit of unity we have seen in the past week be the
start of a new spirit of friendship, that in future all who call
themselves Christians may go forward in unity and strength. We pray for
courage, wisdom and guidance to stand up for our faith when it is
challenged and guide us all in our ministries as we journey through life.
We pray for the Royal family
and ask for your blessing on the marriage of the Prince of Wales and
Duchess of Cornwall. May past unhappiness be put behind them and hurts be
healed, so that they may face the future with confidence and hope. We pray for our country as we
enter an election campaign. Inspire candidates at all levels of
government, whether national or local, in an ethical campaign. Guide us,
as voters, to make wise choices so that we may be governed wisely in
justice and peace. We pray for those threatened
with loss of their livelihood and facing an uncertain future, and for all
who suffer in mind or body and for those who care for them. We pray for
the sick; for those who mourn; for those without faith, hope or love. We
pray for any known to us who are in special need of our prayers at this
time, especially those known personally to us. We remember them now in a
moment of silence …. Jesus Christ is the light of
the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God
those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ,
which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember Merciful Father, |
